                              Croeso i Ysgol Pennant!

Pencampwyr Echwaraeon Minecraft Cymru 2026

Ar Ddydd Mercher, Ebrill 15fed, aeth tîm echwaraeon Minecraft Ysgol Pennant i Gaerdydd i gystadlu  yn rowndiau terfynol Echwaraeon Minecraft Cymru. Roedden wedi bod yn cystadlu yn rithiol yn erbyn nifer o ysgolion yn y gynghrair dros y misoedd diwethaf, ac yn hynod falch o fod ymhlith y pedwar tîm a aeth ymlaen i’r rowndiau terfynol yn Stadiwm y Principality.

Ar ôl codi’n gynnar iawn i ddal y trên, roedden wedi cyrraedd Caerdydd yn barod amdani! Fe gawson daith o amgylch y stadiwm a gwylio rhai o’r gemau eraill cyn eu gêm gynderfynol. Roedd y thema yn cael ei gyhoeddi munudau cyn i’r gêm gychwyn, sef ‘Fy Nghymru Leol’. Roedd gan y tîm 20 munud i ymchwilio, cynllunio a chwblhau eu adeiladu yn Minecraft Education.

Roedd y beirniaid yn asesu nifer o ffactorau gwahanol, gan gynnwys cyd-weithio, arweinyddiaeth, cywirdeb thema a chreadigrwydd. Roedd gwaith Ysgol Pennant yn cynnwys nodweddion fel Dyffryn Tanat, Llyn Efyrnwy a Phistyll Rhaeadr. Roedd y beirniaid yn canmol eu gwaith adeiladu a defnydd o fecaneg ‘redstone’, ond hefyd eu gallu i gyfathrebu a chydweithio’n effeithiol. Roedd y gêm yn agos iawn, ond Ysgol Pennant ddaeth i’r brig ac ymlaen i’r ffeinal.

Thema’r ffeinal oedd ‘Cymru a’r Byd’, a dewisodd Ysgol Pennant gynrychioli cysylltiadau Cymru â Phatagonia. Roedd eu darlun o’r llong Mimosa yn arbennig o drawiadol, gan ddangos dylanwad parhaus diwylliant a’r iaith Gymraeg ymhell o gartref.

Roedd y beirniaid yn canmol gwaith y tîm, yn enwedig eu gallu i drafod eu hadeilad yn hyderus gyda’r beirniaid a’r sylwebwyr oedd yn ffrydio’r gemau’n fyw ar-lein.

Cyhoeddwyd mai Ysgol Pennant oedd enillwyr y categori cynradd am yr eildro yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf. Cawsant dlws, medalau, tystysgrifau, a bag anrhegion gyda chanmoliaeth uchel nid yn unig am yr ystod eang o sgiliau a ddangoswyd yn ystod y gystadleuaeth, ond hefyd am eu caredigrwydd a'u rhyngweithio cadarnhaol â disgyblion eraill trwy gydol y digwyddiad. Wales Minecraft Esports Champions 2026

On Wednesday, April 15th, Ysgol Pennant’s esports team were crowned champions at the Wales Minecraft Esports Finals in Cardiff. They competed virtually over the last few months against other schools in the league and were delighted to finish in the top four teams that progressed to the finals at the Principality Stadium.

After a very early start, the team travelled by train and arrived at the stadium ready for a busy day. They enjoyed a stadium tour and watched some of the other matches before their semi-final. The theme, which was announced shortly before the match, was ‘My Local Wales’. The team then had 20 minutes to research, plan, and complete their build using Minecraft Education.

The judges assessed several factors, including collaboration, leadership, topic accuracy, and visual creativity. Ysgol Pennant’s build included landmarks such as Dyffryn Tanat, Lake Vyrnwy, and Pistyll Rhaeadr. The judges were impressed not only with the build itself and use of redstone mechanics, but also their communication and team work. The semi-final was very close, but Ysgol Pennant emerged as the winners and progressed to the final.

The final theme was ‘Wales and the World’, and Ysgol Pennant chose to represent Wales’s connections with Patagonia. Their depiction of the ship Mimosa was particularly impressive, demonstrating the lasting influence of Welsh culture and language far from home. The judges were highly impressed with the team’s work, especially their ability to confidently discuss their build with both the judges and the shoutcasters who were streaming the games live online.

Ysgol Pennant were declared the primary category winners for the second time in recent years. They received a trophy, medals, certificates, and a goody bag, along with high praise not only for the wide range of skills demonstrated during the esports competition, but also for their kindness and positive interactions with other pupils throughout the event.
